A post on my page:
In the current fashion of division (which kind of seems like whitewashing (hOw DaRe YoU cAlL iT "WHITE" wAsHiNg!) stereotypes to the point of prejudice,) the term BOOMER has been thrown around in a pejorative fashion so much that a subgroup has taken to calling themselves "Generation Jones" to differentiate people born between 1954 and 1965 from the more immediately post WWII group on the basis of a different cultural and economic context.
Whatevs. Personally, I'm a Mid-Century Modern - circa 1957
The music my brood grew up with, however, is more post-hippie, Cosmic Cowboy, Jazz/Blues/Global shredtastic and eclectic mix than the previous doo-wop, classic country and crooner standards generally favored by our predecessors.
I was trained in Classical, but always kept an open ear. Our day, these days, usually starts out with African Kora or Indian Chill instrumentals until the morning burns away, then works into our current flavor of the month.
This month, it seems to be a streaming station emanating from Cape Coral, the city directly across from our lanai on the Caloosahatchee by way of Key West. Owned, produced, and created by Maggie DellaGiustina, a former Matlacha and Key West resident who found themselves beached in Cape Coral.
A lot of deep cuts and lost tracks from my teens to forties, along with more modern kindred oddities. Might tickle your ear as well.
I listen on the Live365 app, but you can also catch them on their website:— with Miki Poso Pulley at Fort Myers River District.
